Renaissance Castle

Umbrellas for the inner courtyard

The courtyard of the Renaissance castle in Wasseralfingen is a traditional venue for open-air theatre and concerts during the summer season. The four 56-square-metre umbrellas overlap at different heights. They can be deployed in just a few minutes and provide protection from both the sun and rain. The funnel-shaped membranes collect the rainwater, which is then diverted through the masts. As a result, events remain largely unaffected by the weather. The umbrellas also create a very special atmosphere in this temporary venue.
