Relocation to Stuttgart-Plieningen
With the Office to the South of Stuttgart

in Leinfelden-Echterdingen
First and foremost, the new premises had to be large enough to provide a workplace for all employees and potential new recruits. It also had to be a building with charm and history. A new building was not an option for us. And last but not least, we wanted a largely free-standing building that would only be used by us. After a few viewings that didn’t quite meet our expectations, we came across the Hanselmannmühle (a mill) in Stuttgart-Plieningen. An advertising agency had previously worked here and wanted to move further into the city centre. Accordingly, the surroundings were already creative, but also in need of renovation and therefore involved a lot of work. However, the mill had good basic conditions: sufficient space, outdoor areas and the gardens and parks of the University of Hohenheim right next door, where you can relax during your lunch break.

In the middle of the Körschmühlental valley, the Hanselmannmühle went into operation in the middle of the 13th century. For centuries, tonnes of grain were ground here, driven by the power of the nearby stream. The five mills along the Körsch contributed to the basic supply of the population in the city area and beyond. In the 1970s, the Hanselmannmühle, according to various sources the oldest commercial enterprise in Stuttgart, was shut down. In the years that followed, it was rented out as commercial space to various companies.
In order to adapt the premises to our needs and requirements, we had to carry out some renovation work. Above all, we wanted more open spaces, brighter rooms and new kitchen and sanitary areas. At the same time, many “original” elements were to be made visible again, such as the old floorboards. Over the course of several months, walls were therefore removed, carpets ripped out and floors sanded down. Our product designers also customised great solutions for our kitchen areas. Now, we have now found a great building for our office in the southernmost district of Stuttgart, which feels like much more than just a temporary solution.
